Artists are invited to the residency for 1-4 weeks at a time. The space is free but we ask that the artist or writer-in-residence give either a public talk or workshop. The house which includes living quarters and a studio space is located on the main road downtown. The work space is approximately 250 square feet with good light. Two bedrooms and the bathroom are on the third floor. Pets and families are allowed within reason. There is a small country store within walking distance but a car is necessary to get around generally. There is no public transportation and no easy access to Metro North. The Barbour woods is within close walking distance and the Battell Stoeckel Estate, which is home to the Yale Summer School, is just across the street and open to the public. There is a washer and dryer and very small woodshop in the basement. The elementary school, the Botelle school, has a community kiln. During Summer months there is a place to swim at Tobey Pond.
